SARCASM poured in from Malaysians on social media over the new cabinet announcement made by Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob today.

They said the new cabinet was only recycled from the previous administration under Muhyiddin Yassin. Users also used pictures of the recycle symbol to describe the appointments.

The hashtag #Cabinet quickly trended on Twitter after the announcement was made, the infamous #KerajaanGagal hashtag was also used to describe the new cabinet.

“I mean. It’s good to recycle, reuse etc your trash but I don’t mean this #Cabinet,” said @itsherxy7.

“It’s just like you install a new cabinet with a same old plates… #sameshits #fullofshits #recyclecabinet #cabinet,” said @zalliza_KN.

“Malaysia’s new cabinet line-up was picked out from a bowl full of names is it?? #KerajaanGagal2 #cabinet,” @zakiah_zkm tweeted.

Ismail announced his cabinet today, with the ministers to be sworn in on Monday.

Ismail said the cabinet’s main task was to tackle Covid-19 and heal the economy.

He said the ministers must also prove their performance within the first 100 days in office.

There is no deputy prime minister, with four “senior ministers” just like the initial line-up of the previous Muhyiddin cabinet.

Another user @shiebnaa_ called out the reappointment of Mohd Radzi Jidin as education minister. Radzi helmed the same post under Perikatan Nasional.

“Radzi Jidin as the minister of education again? When the whole country was in lockdown and schools weren’t open, this guy magically came up with some numbers and made the statement that school closures led to a decrease in school bullying cases #Cabinet #Malaysia,” she said.

@shikinnoraa sarcastically tweeted that it was good that Malaysia was picking up the habit of recycling.

“Good that Malaysia is practising the 3R, practice reuse, reduce, recycle #cabinet #KerajaanGagal.”

Meanwhile @qlznl said there the new cabinet would be “nothing much”.

“Just more failures in future #Cabinet,” he said.

On August 16, Muhyiddin resigned as the country’s eighth prime minister after losing his parliamentary majority when 15 Umno MPs publicly refused to back him.

The Bersatu president had initially tried to cling to his position, but his final attempt of an olive branch to the opposition failed, when all opposition parties rejected his offer of reforms in exchange for support. – August 27, 2021.

  • PM is getting a lot of bashings today. Starting out on the wrong foot. Very soon he will be falling all over the place. Certainly not a good start.
