35 new Covid-19 clusters bring 1,221 positive cases

THE Health Ministry detected a total of 35 new Covid-19 clusters today, which contributed to 1,221 positive cases, said Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah. 

The health director-general said of the 35 clusters, 20 were linked to workplaces, nine traced to the community, four detected in high-risk groups and one each at a detention centre and at an educational institution. 

Two states reported a high number of clusters – 10 in Johor and nine in Selangor. 

Eight of Selangor’s nine clusters were at workplaces.

Other states reporting new clusters were Kelantan (four); Perak and Sarawak (three each); Kedah (two); Negri Sembilan, Malacca, Sabah and Penang (one each).

The new additions today brought the total number of clusters in the country to 4,583, of which 1,471 are still active. A total of 3,112 cluster have ended.
