A TOTAL of 34 new Covid-19 clusters with 1,137 cases were reported by the Health Ministry today, the bulk of which were contributed by workplace clusters.
Director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said that of the 34 clusters, 22 were traced back to workplaces, nine were traced to the community, two were traced to high-risk groups, whereas one was traced to a detention centre.
Noor Hisham said out of the 1,137 infections recorded, 786 are from workplaces, 216 are from the community, 100 are from the sole detention centre, and 35 are from the high-risk groups.
The health DG added that Selangor and Kelantan are the states with the highest number of clusters today at seven clusters each.
Selangor reported six workplace clusters and one high-risk group cluster, while Kelantan reported three workplace clusters and four community clusters.
Meanwhile, Penang reported six clusters, all of which were detected from workplaces.
This is followed by Johor with five clusters (three from workplaces and two from the community) and Malacca with two workplaces clusters.
Other states that reported one cluster each are Sabah, Perak, Pahang, Sarawak, Terengganu, and Perlis. Federal Territory Kuala Lumpur also reported one cluster.
Noor Hisham said the addition of the new clusters today raises the number of active clusters to 1,446, and the number of total clusters nationwide to 4,506.
The 22 workplace clusters are:

5. Jalan Tampin Construction Site in Klang, Selangor (19 cases);
6. Industry Meranti Permai Satu in Sepang, Petaling and Hulu Langat, Selangor (10 cases);
7. Jalan Industri Bukit Panchor in South Seberang Perai, Penang (81 cases);
8. Persiaran Cassia Selatan Tiga Construction Site in South Seberang Perai, Penang (31 cases);
9. Tingkat Perusahaan 4B in Centra Seberang Perai, Penang (30 cases);
10. Persiaran Bayan Lepas in North-East, South-West and Central Seberang Perai, Penang (27 cases);
11. Lorong Perusahaan Maju 11 in Central Seberang Perai, Penang (18 cases);

The nine community clusters are:

2. Kg Bechak Mulong in Kota Baru, Kelantan (13 cases);
3. Kg Padang Dalam Kedai Lalat in Kota Baru, Kelantan (13 cases);
4. Kg Binjal Bunut Susu in Pasir Mas, Kelantan (10 cases);
5. Kg Masai Asal in Johor Baru, Johor (60 cases);
6. Kg Jawa Kota Tinggi in Kota Tinggi, Johor (7 cases);
7. Desa Kenanga in Rompin, Pahang (14 cases);
8. Nanga Pelugau in Selangau, Sarawak (24 cases); and
9. Kg Rhu Muda in Marang, Terengganu (62 cases);
The two high-risk group clusters are:
1. Jalan Syers in Kepong, Kuala Lumpur (27 cases); and
2. Lorong Haji Mughni in Klang, Selangor (8 cases).
The detention centre cluster was detected in Tembok Kok Klang in Kangar, Perlis (100 cases). – August 24, 2021.
