517,692 Covid shots dispensed yesterday

HEALTHCARE workers administered 517,692 Covid-19 vaccination jabs yesterday, 180,810 of which were second doses and 336,882, first doses.

To date, 51.6% of the adult population in Malaysia are fully inoculated with two jabs, the Special Committee for Ensuring Access to Covid-19 Vaccine Supply said today.

The committee said 76.1% of the adult population has received a first dose.

The Klang Valley saw the the most vaccines administered with 173,856 doses, with Selangor accounting for 103,850 of them and Kuala Lumpur, 70,006.

This adds up to 4.6 million, or 55.8%, of the population fully vaccinated in the Klang Valley, while 6.5 million or 78.1% have received a first dose.

In total, the country has administered 29.88 million Covid-19 doses, inoculating 17.8 million people, or  54.5% of the population with one shot and 12 million, or 37% of the population, with two.

Labuan has the highest rate of full vaccination with 90.2% of its adult population, or 61,472 people, having received two doses.

The government aims to vaccinate half of the country’s adult population by Merdeka Day. 

Meanwhile, restrictions have been eased for fully vaccinated people under the national recovery plan.

People who have had two shots of the vaccine may now dine out and take part in selected sports.

Those in states in phase 2 and above of the national recovery plan and above can also travel inter-district and take local tours. – August 20, 2021.
