FULLY vaccinated individuals will be allowed to dine-in starting tomorrow in phase 1 states, said Muhyiddin Yassin.
These relaxations come on a day when Malaysia reported a record high of 22,948 new Covid-19 cases, with both Selangor and Kuala Lumpur – two of the states in phase 1 – jointly recording 8,614 cases.
Selangor has continuously topped the state list on daily number of cases with cases hitting more than 6,000 per day.
In the three-page statement, the caretaker prime minister said that fully vaccinated parents may also bring their under-17 children to dine-in at cafes and restaurants.
Along with the relaxation of dine-ins, Muhyiddin said that people will also be allowed to take part in non-contact and non-group sports in phase 1 states.
“These sports include jogging, exercise, tai chi, cycling, skateboarding, fishing, equestrian, archery, climbing, tennis (singles), badminton (singles), golf, motorsports and the like,” said Muhyiddin.
He said that these outdoor sports can be done from 6am till 10pm.
On dining-in, Muhyiddin said it is only allowed for individuals who have fully completed their vaccinations.
“The fully vaccinated phase for those who have taken the two-dose vaccines such as Pfizer and AstraZeneca is 14 days after the second dose. For single-dose vaccines like Johnson & Johnson and CanSino, the person is deemed to have completed the process after 28 days.”
He said that cafes and restaurants will be tasked with ensuring patrons have fully completed their vaccination process by checking the Covid-19 digital certificate on the MySejahtera app.
He said the government has also decided to allow night markets to open under phase 1 of the National Recovery Plan.
Muhyiddin said the government decided the relax the standard operating procedure (SOP) for fully vaccinated individuals in the phase 1 states of Labuan, Sarawak, Negri Sembilan, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya after the number of stage 3 and 4 Covid-19 hospital admissions had dropped after the vaccination rate for adults had reached 40%.
He said that the adult vaccination rate for Klang Valley is also very encouraging as it has hit 73.8%. – August 19, 2021.
