ALL 18 PAS lawmakers will back Ismail Sabri Yaakob as the prime minister candidate, party deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said today.

He said it was a unanimous decision by the party.

“We have discussed and reached the decision.

“The president (Abdul Hadi Awang) has also affirmed the decision. 

“So, we hereby give our full support for Ismail to be the next prime minister,” Tuan Ibrahim told reporters at the Umno headquarters today.

Also present at the same press conference were Umno secretary-general Ahmad Maslan, PAS vice-president Idris Ahmad and PAS supreme council member Mohd Khairuddin Aman Razali. 

Tuan Ibrahim said PAS MPs have prepared statutory declarations to be sent to Istana Negara by 4pm today.

He said the priority now is to select a leader who could resolve outstanding issues facing the country.

“It is important to solve the problems first. 

“We (Umno and PAS) discussed together and came to a consensual decision.

“We hope all the issues will be solved with this. God willing,” he said.

Top leaders from Umno and PAS gathered at the Umno headquarters in World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur earlier today.

Earlier today, several top leaders from Barisan Nasional (BN) and PAS were spotted arriving at the Umno headquarters.

BN last night agreed on Ismail to be the next prime minister. – August 18, 2021.
