PUBLIC parks in phase 1 states will be opened for all starting tomorrow, Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin said.

However, he added that this relaxation of movement restrictions only applied to solo outdoor pastimes, such as jogging and cycling.

“In effort to reduce mental stress, we agreed to allow parks and recreational sites to open.

“It is limited to solo activities only. The public can only go to parks in their own residential areas and must not cross state or district borders,” he added.

Meanwhile, Muhyiddin said the government is currently looking into feedback from stakeholders over its plans to turn Langkawi Island into a tourism bubble, headed by Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture Nancy Shukri.

Muhyiddin said it was important to lift the tourism sector, which has arguably been hardest hit industry since the pandemic began.

“The Health Ministry and other experts advised that the proposal can only be implemented after 80% of the populations in Langkawi have received their completed Covid-19 vaccine.

“Meanwhile, only vaccinated visitors we be allowed on the island,” he said. – August 15, 2021.
