42% of adult population fully vaccinated against Covid

A TOTAL of 525,342 vaccine doses were administered yesterday under the national Covid-19 immunisation programme yesterday, meaning 42% of of the country’s adult population are fully vaccinated with two doses.

The Special Committee for Ensuring Access to Covid-19 Vaccine Supply said the majority of the doses administered yesterday were second doses; 197,962 were first doses and 327,380, second doses.

As of yesterday, 9.84 million adults in Malaysia have now completed their two-dose schedule, while 16.54 million or 70.7% have had their first jab.

Tiny Labuan has the highest rate of full vaccination with 87.5% of its adult population, or 59,904 people, having received two doses.

The Klang Valley saw the highest number of doses dispensed with 6.35 million first jabs and 3.71 second jabs.

In total, 26. 38 million doses of vaccine have been administered since February 24.

The government aims to immunise 50% of the country’s general population by Merdeka Day.

Meanwhile, restrictions have been eased for fully vaccinated people in states in phase 2 of the national recovery plan and beyond.

Those who have had two shots of the vaccine in those states may now dine out, travel inter-district, take local tours, and take part in selected sports.  – August 13, 2021.
