DAILY Covid-19 vaccination numbers climbed to 465,793 yesterday after dropping to 389,641 the day before.

As of yesterday, 38.7% of the adult population have received their second dose and 68.2%, their first dose.

For the fourth day in a row, however, daily vaccinations failed to meet the government target of at least 500,000.

Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin said yesterday he was confident 80% of the population and all adults will be immunised by the end of October.

The special committee for Covid-19 vaccine supply access said 187,495 of yesterdays shots were first doses and 278,298, second doses.

Johor led in the administration of first doses with 29,804, followed by Sabah (26,121), Kedah (24,748) and Selangor (22,543).

Selangor administered most second doses yesterday with 84,985), followed by Kuala Lumpur (53,515), Johor (21,332) and Perak (19,730).

In the Klang Valley – which includes Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya – 6.3 million people, or 74.3% the population have received a first dose, and 3.3 million, or 39.3% of the population, have been fully inoculated.

Until August 22, Klang Valley residents without an appointment may walk in at the vaccination centres for their shots.

Malaysia reported 17,236 new Covid-19 cases yesterday.

The Klang Valley continues to contribute the bulk of the cases, reporting 7,307 cases.

The national Covid-19 caseload now stands at 1,279,776. – August 10, 2021.
