35 new Covid-19 clusters, 13 in Kelantan

Thirteen out of the 35 new Covid-19 clusters detected in the past 24 hours are located in Kelantan, says health authorities. – The Malaysian Insight pic by Irwan Majid, August 4, 2021.

THE number of active Covid-19 clusters continued to rise as the Health Ministry (MoH) identified 35 new clusters in the past 24 hours, Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said today.

According to MoH data, a total of 1,161 clusters in the country are still active.

The health director-general said that of the total nationwide, 20 clusters were linked to community transmissions, 14 were traced to places of work and one was a religious grouping.

Kelantan accounted for 13 clusters, the most today, with nine linked to community, three to workplaces and one to the sole religious cluster.

Apart from that, seven clusters were detected in Selangor, the second highest, where six were at workplaces and one linked to community transmission.

Other states reporting clusters were Perak with five; Sarawak (four); Johor (two); Sabah, Terengganu, Malacca and Kuala Lumpur (one each).
