483,368 doses of Covid-19 vaccines given yesterday, task force says

THE number of Covid-19 vaccines administered yesterday were again slightly below the daily target of 500,000, with 483,368 shots dispensed nationwide.

Of yesterday’s figure, 240,394 were first doses, while 242,974 received their second dose, the Special Committee on Covid-19 Vaccine Supply said on Twitter.

This raises the total number of people with shots to 22.15 million.

Of this total, 14.7 million or 45% of the population have received one dose, and 7.4 million or 22.8% of the population have received their second doses.

Putrajaya aims to fully vaccinate the entire adult population by October. As of yesterday, 62.8% of the adult population has received one dose, and 31.8% of adults, two doses.

In the Klang Valley which covers Selangor and Kuala Lumpur together, 71.6% or six million of its population has had a first dose and 30.2% or 2.5 million people their second shot.

The walk-in vaccination programme has also started in the Klang Valley, only for residents without prior appointments, and will run until August 22.

Today, Labuan, Sarawak and Perlis will move into Phase 3 of the National Recovery Plan from tomorrow after achieving full vaccination for 40% of their adult population.

Meanwhile, Kedah, Johor and Sabah are still seeing a low take-up rate on the vaccines, with all three states reporting its first dose of its population below 35% and second dose with less than 16%.

Yesterday, the country received 415,000 of the AstraZeneca vaccine from the United Kingdom. – August 4, 2021.
