Malaysia continues to record five-digit daily Covid-19 cases at 17,105

MALAYSIA continued to log daily Covid-19 cases in five figures as 17,105 fresh infections were recorded as of noon today, Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said.  

This is the 22nd consecutive day the nation has reported daily cases in five digits, starting July 13. 

The director-general of health said more than 8,000 cases were reported in the Klang Valley alone, with Selangor accounting for 5,836 infections, Kuala Lumpur with 2,309 cases and Putrajaya with 72 cases. 

As Selangor and Kuala Lumpur took the top two spots respectively for reporting the highest number of cases by state, Johor was third with 1,275 infections.  

Selangor has now gone to report the most number of cases by state for 103 consecutive days, where its total caseload now stands at 425,648. 

Other states reporting new cases are Kedah (1,036), Sabah (1,010), Perak (967), Kelantan (915), Negri Sembilan (816), Penang (798), Pahang (628), Malacca (508), Sarawak (494) and Terengganu (429). 

Labuan and Perlis reported five and seven cases respectively.  

Meanwhile, the Covid-19 vaccines administered yesterday were below the daily target of 500,000, with 468,526 shots dispensed nationwide.

Of this, 223,479 were first doses and 245,047 were second doses, the Special Committee on Covid-19 Vaccine Supply said on Twitter.

This raises the total number of vaccine shots administered to date to 21.67 million nationwide. – August 3, 2021.
