MALAYSIA administered 462,242 doses of vaccine under the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme yesterday, Health Minister Dr Adham Baba said today.
“A total of 301,536 individuals were given their first dose, while the remaining 160,706 completed their second dose yesterday,” he tweeted.
The latest daily vaccination number dipped from the day before, where 507,050 doses were administered, but the figure yesterday remained above the 400,000 mark.
The 400,000 mark was hit almost daily since July 12 with a dip to 299,593 on Tuesday, 380,440 on July 17 and 344,961 on July 18.
The total number of Covid-19 vaccines administered under the programme now stands at 16.49 million.
Of this, 11.22 million or 34.4% of the adult population have been administered with one dose of vaccine while the remaining 5.26 million or 16.1% of the population are now fully immunised.
Labuan remained in the lead with the highest vaccination rate – 61% of its population having received one dose and 49.9% completing their two-dose schedule.
Meanwhile, the Klang Valley – which includes Kuala Lumpur, Selangor and Putrajaya – has the highest vaccine recipient rate.
A total of 4.58 million or 54.4% received their first jab while 1.54 million or 18.3% completed both doses.
Putrajaya is looking to vaccinate all senior citizens in the Klang Valley with at least one dose of Covid-19 vaccine in the next few weeks.
Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin had said all adults in Malaysia will be vaccinated by October, a new immunisation target set by the government to stem the recent surge in Covid-19 cases.
He said the fast-track approach in the programme includes boosting the capacity for vaccinations to 500,000 doses per day, to tackle the emergence of new and more vicious variants of the virus. – July 24, 2021.
