FOUR police officers, including a sub-inspector, were arrested for partying in a “stress” room that was converted into a disco at a police station in Kajang yesterday.

Bukit Aman’s Standards Compliance Integrity Department (JIPS) chief Azri Ahmad said they conducted a raid at 6pm after receiving information from the public that the policemen were in violation of Covid-19 standard operating procedure (SOP).

“The four policemen were arrested along with four women while they were partying in the converted room,” Azri told The Malaysian Insight when contacted.

He said the investigation is being conducted under Section 269 of the Penal Code, for the offence of unlawfully or negligently doing any act which is, and which one knows or has reason to believe to be, likely to spread the infection of any disease dangerous to life.

If found guilty of the offence, the punishment is imprisonment for a period of up to six months, or a fine, or both.

“The officer, the other personnel and the women who were caught singing karaoke when the raid took place are in violation of the SOP.

“The SOP breach will be investigated by JIPS while other investigations into other offences will be conducted by the Kajang police headquarters,” Azri said.

According to sources, the sub-inspector is the station chief, while the three other policemen were support staff at the station.

“The raid was conducted around 6pm yesterday and we found them dancing and indulging in alcohol and ketum in the ‘stress room’ located on the third floor of the station.

“They had also installed a disco ball in the room and we also found lewd pictures of one of the policemen with a woman who was arrested.

“They are aged between 21 to 37 and they have been arrested for further action,” the source told The Malaysian Insight. – July 21, 2021.
