Kedah MB fined RM1,500 for MCO violation

KEDAH Menteri Besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor was fined RM1,500 for a movement control order (MCO) violation in Juru, Penang, on June 5.

He paid the fine at the Kota Star health office’s inspectorate division yesterday, his aide said.

Sanusi, a PAS politician, and two of his aides were accused of test driving a pick-up truck at Juru Auto City, an incident which was videotaped and photographed by a woman before she lodged a police report.

Test drives are not allowed during the MCO, which has been in force since June 1.

Sanusi had said the incident took place by chance when he was on his way to Kuala Lumpur for a meeting.

He said he had stopped to buy “bread and water” at a RM2 shop in Juru Auto City, chanced upon a Ford showroom next door and struck up a conversation with a salesman there.

Sanusi said he then took up the salesman’s offer to go on a short drive in the pick-up truck around the area and later left for KL.

Meanwhile, the woman, identified as Nini Siron, told Free Malaysia Today she has suffered heavily due to cyber-bullying by PAS supporters.

The 39-year-old said she was forced to deactivate her social media accounts after PAS supporters trolled and circulated photos of her family all over Facebook.

She handles her 43-year-old husband’s Facebook page, which the couple used to sell cars, as showrooms are not allowed to open.

She also used the page to sell small furniture items and perfumes to make extra money.

Nini said she had to close their Facebook account and disable their numbers following the incident.

She alleged there has been no response over her cyberbullying complaint, adding she had also filed a police report at Bukit Mertajam police station over PAS supporters circulating her personal information on social media.

However, the police said she should complain to the Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) instead. – July 19, 2021.
