POLICE will not accept letters issued by the International Trade and Industry Ministry as a permit for interstate travel from today until July 21.
Inspector-General of Police Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani said this was because there had been more vehicles on the highways in the past two days.
“All roadblocks at state borders have been directed to increase enforcement and not to accept Miti documents as a pass for travel.
“This is to stop irresponsible parties from misusing the Miti permission letter to cross state borders to celebrate Hari Raya Aidiladha,” he said in a statement yesterday night.
However, he said people who must travel for emergency purposes, including for vaccination, could do so with police permission.
He said people caught violating the ban would face stern action. – Bernama, July 18, 2021.
