380,440 vaccine shots administered yesterday

DAILY doses administered under the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme dipped to 380,440 after remaining above the 400,000 mark for four days, according to the Special Committee for Ensuring Access to Covid-19 Vaccine Supply.

A total of 253,830 people received their first jab yesterday while the remaining 126,610 completed their second doses. 

Perlis saw the lowest number of vaccinations yesterday with 192 doses administered as first dose and only two were given out as a second dose. 

Meanwhile, only three doses were administered in Putrajaya yesterday as second doses, while 2,300 people in the administrative capital got their first jab. 

Prior to yesterday, a total of 421, 479 doses were administered on Monday, 424,541 (Tuesday), a record high of 460,158 (Thursday) and 406,763 (Friday). 

Selangor, the most populous state in the country, had the highest number of vaccinations with 75,881 first doses and 25,780 second doses. 

With yesterday’s vaccination, the cumulative total of doses administered under the national vaccination drive, which began on February 24, has now crossed 14 million. 

Of this, 9.57 million or 40.9% of the adult population have been partially vaccinated with one dose while 18.9% or 4.43 million people have been fully immunised with two doses. 

Tiny Labuan is in the lead with the highest vaccination rate with 86.1% of its population having received one dose and 60.1% completing their two-dose schedule. 

The government is looking to vaccinate all senior citizens in the Klang Valley at least one dose of Covid-19 vaccine in the next few weeks. 

Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin said it was in line with the decision that this group be allowed to get their vaccine shots on a walk-in basis at all vaccination centres and government health facilities in the Klang Valley starting yesterday. – July 18, 2021.
