THERE is no need for anyone to fly a white flag for help because the government is providing aid to target groups, said Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin

He was commenting on the social media-driven white flag campaign which was launched at the beginning of the month to help families in need of assistance.

People are to put up a white flag outside their homes to signal an urgent need for help and passers-by with the means to help are encouraged to answer the appeal.

“There is no need to hang a white or black flag, but it’s okay to hang a blue flag,” Muhyiddin said, referring to the Perikatan Nasional colour, which is blue.

“What I mean is, we know where (to lend help) and the (Women, Family and Community Development) Ministry has a record.

“I was informed by (Women, Family and Community Development) minister (Rina Harun) that the recipients are recorded,” he said today after visiting the Bakul Prihatin Negara aid distribution centre at Dewan Perdana Nur in Putrajaya today.

Meanwhile, the black flag he alluded to is another movement that was birthed on social media, but to protest Putrajaya’s poor handling of the Covid-19 epidemic.

Muhyiddin maintained that most people were getting aid

“I think if we go to the ground we will probably find the kitchens of homes to be full.

“I’m not saying this is the case for everyone; that’s why we have a registration system so that the distribution is fair.

“We don’t want a situation where one person gets 10 boxes (of food and applies) while others get nothing,” he told reporters. – July 15, 2021.
