POLICE are investigating a dentist, identified as Dr Han, over a video he allegedly posted explaining the Code Black campaign for contract doctors in government service.

Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department director Abd Jalil Hassan said in a statement today that the man is being investigated for inciting the public under Section 505(c) of the Penal Code.

He said the investigation is also being carried out under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1988 for improper use of network facilities or network service.

He said stern action will be taken against any individual who threatens the nation’s peace and public harmony.

He said the investigation follows a report on the six-minute video titled “Malaysian doctors on strike/mogok?”, in which Han called on the public to take part in the campaign.

“The individual urged the public to take part by changing their social media profile pictures to a black or monochrome colour image from July 1 to 12.

“He also called on the people to upload photos with the hashtags #SaveMYcontractHCW, #CodeBlackMY and #BlackMondayMY on July 12.

“The public should not make any statement or speculation, which could jeopardise investigations,” he said, urging those with information to contact the police. – July 14, 2021.
