SARAWAK Deputy Chief Minister James Masing has suggested that politicians who spend their time politicking to take down other politicians during the Covid-19 pandemic should be thrown in prison.

He likened their action to that of a soldier shooting a fellow soldier during a war.

“Our leaders use our resources to shoot fellow Malaysians first, instead of shooting our enemy, the Covid-19,” he said in apparent reference to the recent action by Umno, which withdrew its support for Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin and thus undermining the Perikatan Nasional government that is battling a flare-up in infections in the country.

“(In a) war those people who shoot their fellow soldiers will be court martialled and put in prison.”

Sarawak’s ruling coalition, the four-party Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) which Masing’s Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) is a member of, recently described Umno’s action as “too much politicking”.

“Why aren’t Malaysian leaders putting their minds (together) to fight this virus with the tools that we have at our disposal?

“Simple. Our leaders use our resources to shoot our fellow Malaysians first,” said Masing.

He said it is not too late for these politicians “to adjust their strategies to fight the deadly enemy, the coronavirus”.

“Let us put our mind, our resources and our time to stand as one and fight this deadly enemy that has killed and caused untold misery to Malaysians every day,” he said.

“The doctors and our front-liners, at times, have to play God, as who to live and who to die, due to lack of medical facilities in our hospitals.

“Malaysians are dying and suffering by the hour. Please consider their plight.” – July 14, 2021.
