FEDERAL Territories Minister Annuar Musa is once again in the crosshairs of angry social media users, after he posted pictures of himself flouting the Covid-19 lockdown to visit former prime minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi for lunch.

Annuar has already twice been on the receiving end of a social media backlash, having been caught jogging with more than two people and eating with a group of people at a community centre. These incidents took place within one month of each other earlier this year.

This time, the Federal Territories minister was pictured having lunch with former prime minister Abdullah at the latter’s home in Kuala Lumpur.

Annuar posted the pictures on his official Twitter page @AnnuarMusa but later deleted them following an angry riposte from social media users.

“Today, we as husband and wife had the chance to visit Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and Jeane Abdullah at their residence at Bait Badawi, Kuala Lumpur.

“We spent more than two hours with him and had lunch cooked by Jeane. May Allah always bless Pak Lah’s whole family,” Annuar tweeted.

Under the current Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOP), house visits are prohibited.

In January, Annuar was caught jogging with two people from a different household.

He said it was a chance meeting with his neighbours and was on his way back home from the exercise routine.

However, a month later Annuar was once again pictured violating the SOP when he was seen eating at the same table with six others during a visit to a community centre project in Cheras.

At that time, dining with more than two people was prohibited.

Annuar said he was only at the table for a short time and did not want to be rude to the organiser, who prepared food for him.

The Ketereh MP was fined RM1,000 for this breach.

Meanwhile, Twitter users have demanded Annuar resign.

“Even if you’re not smart, at least be a good example,” a user said.

“I haven’t been able to see my mother for almost a year. I wonder if I can be given the same treatment as our minister to go home and visit our family. Plus having a good lunch,” @Fengnabby said sarcastically.

“Not the first time and simply putting up pictures to show he can violate the law. Please resign,” said @fammymalik.

“Wasting taxpayers’ money. Resign now,” said @AzAhmad. – July 10, 2021.
