MORE than 2.4 million people or 7.5% of the population have received two shots of the Covid-19 vaccine as of yesterday, the Special Committee on Covid-19 Vaccine Supply (JKJAV) said.

Another 6.1 million or 18.7% have received their first doses, out of the total 8.6 million shots administered, it said on Twitter.

This follows a total of 236,196 jabs given yesterday.

Of this 167,059 were first shots, and 69,137 were second doses.

Putrajaya’s goal is to vaccinate 10% of the population with two shots as one of the indicators to fulfil before movement restrictions can be eased.

Other indicators are for daily Covid-19 infections to fall below 4,000, and for intensive care unit (ICU) capacity, currently at overflowing, to move down to “moderate”.

Daily Covid-19 cases, however, have been exceeding 6,000 in the last four days.

The states with the highest rates for full vaccination (two doses) as of yesterday are Putrajaya with 25.8% of its population covered, Labuan at 16.8% and Kuala Lumpur at 12.5%. – July 3, 2021.
