SELANGOR Menteri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali’s offer of the Gombak parliamentary seat to Dr Mahathir Mohamad is merely a farce.
State Umno liaison committee secretary Johan Abdul Aziz said Azmin, who is also PKR deputy president, was merely finding an excuse to “run away” after failing to serve his constituents.
“Many residents in Gombak are unhappy as they have been neglected by Azmin, who has not visited many areas in the constituency.
“Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government Minister Noh Omar was the one who visited the People’s Housing Project in the constituency to look into the problems there, such as damaged roofs and rubbish collection,” he said today.
Prior to Azmin’s offer, Pakatan chairman Dr Mahathir had said he was willing to contest in one of three parliamentary seats – Putrajaya, Langkawi or Kubang Pasu – in the 14th general election.
State Umno Youth chief Zainuri Zainal said Azmin offered the Gombak seat to Dr Mahathir, who was announced as PH’s prime minister pick should it win GE14, because the former had a slim chance of retaining the constituency due to declining support from PAS. – Bernama, January 14, 2018.
