CHILDREN aged 12 and above are now able to register for the Covid-19 vaccination on the MySejahtera app.

Checks on the app showed that those who are users of the app and have a MySejahtera ID can sign up for the vaccination.

The registration process is the same as that for adults aged 18 and above. Particulars, including their MyKad details, have to be keyed in under the Covid-19 vaccination option.

Parents and guardians can also register their children as dependents by clicking the “Add Vaccine Dependent” option under the “Vaccination” category.

On June 15, the Drug Control Authority approved the use of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine for children aged 12 and above.

The Malaysian Insight has reached out to the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (Mosti), which has confirmed the availability of the registration option.

Coordinating Minister for the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme Khairy Jamaluddin said earlier today that the Special Committee for Ensuring Access to Covid-19 Vaccine Supply will decide on the process for vaccination for teenagers in its meeting this week.

He said the committee, co-chaired by himself and Health Minister Dr Adham Baba, will decide how the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine should be administered to teenagers based on the advice of an Expert Working Group.

“Further details will be announced in the near future,” he said.

Clinical trials have shown that the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine is safe for use for those aged between 12 and 15.

Health experts have previously called on the government to consider vaccinating children in the age group after more than 80,000 children were reported to have contracted the coronavirus. – June 21, 2021.
