5,293 new Covid-19 cases nationwide, Klang Valley records 2,063

There were 5,293 new Covid-19 infections today, with Selangor contributing to 1,680 of the cases, says Health Ministry director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah. – The Malaysian Insight pic by Irwan Majid, June 20, 2021.

MALAYSIA reported 5,293 positive Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, said Health Ministry director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

He said the latest statistics showed a slight dip from yesterday’s infections, which came in at 5,911.

He said the new cases bring the national caseload to 696,408.

Selangor continued to log the highest number of new cases among the states, with 1,680 cases, while Kuala Lumpur reported 379 cases, which would mean that the Klang Valley alone recorded 2,063 cases today, as Putrajaya has four.

This is followed by Sarawak with 661 cases, and Johor (627). 

The rest of the states that recorded three-digit cases were Negeri Sembilan with 693, Perak (205), Melaka (183), Kedah (170), Kelantan (167), Sabah (163), Labuan (156) and Penang (114).

Pahang logged 77 new cases, followed by Terengganu (12), Putrajaya (four) and Perlis with two. – June 20, 2021.
