PKR Youth will reveal more Bersatu leaders who hold positions in government-linked companies (GLCs) as the country battles the Covid-19 pandemic said Akmal Nasir.

The PKR Youth chief said it had decided on this move as Putrajaya refused to explain the case of a Bersatu leader who allegedly held positions in eight GLCs.

“AMK revealed last week how a top leader of Bersatu holds up to eight GLC positions, namely companies related to Mara.

“Since my question is still not answered by the minister, God willing, next week I will expose more of them.

“Not one, but there are others who take up all the positions when the people are suffering,” he said at the PKR congress today

Akmal said he had earlier demanded an explanation from the Rural Development Minister, Abd Latiff Ahmad on the eight director positions held by the Bersatu leader.

In a statement last Tuesday, Akmal mentioned that the individual is a member of Bersatu’s supreme leadership council, Suhaili Abdul Rahman.

He said media reports showed that Suhaili, among others, was appointed in Mara Corporation Sdn Bhd, Pelaburan Mara Berhad, PMB Tijari Berhad and Mara Incorporated Sdn Bhd.

Apart from those positions, Suhaili was also alleged to have been appointed as the director of Glocal Link (M) Sdn Bhd, one of Mara’s subsidiaries.

He claimed that Suhaili would also hold future positions in three other companies, namely Kolej Polytech Mara Sdn Bhd, Med Bumikar Mara Sdn Bhd and Universiti Teknikal Mara Sdn Bhd.

In his closing speech at the PKR 2020 National Congress, Akmal urged the party to explain to the people why they need to choose PKR.

He said the party needed to discuss about than leadership issues, such as that involving president Anwar Ibrahim and former vice -president Rafizi Ramli.

“This is not just about when Anwar Ibrahim will be the prime minister or when Rafizi Ramli will return, although it turns out that this is what we hope for and has been a serious question to the people lately.

“But it goes far beyond all that. It is a matter of our readiness to restore the great framework of the country through institutional reform, upholding justice, good governance and many other aspects,” he said.
