2 injured by falling scaffolding at highway construction site

Two construction workers were injured after scaffolding at a highway construction site near the Kota Damansara exit of the New Klang Valley Expressway collapsed today. – The Malaysian Insight pic by Najjua Zulkefli, June 19, 2021.

TWO Bangladeshi workers were injured after they were hit by falling scaffolding at a highway construction site near the Kota Damansara exit of the New Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE) this evening.

According to the Fire and Rescue Department, the two were working on the ground when the scaffolding fell and hit them at 7pm.

“The men are aged between 20 and 40,” said the department in a brief statement.

The two were sent to the Sungai Buloh Hospital for treatment.

Their condition is yet to be known.

In a statement, Projek Lintasan Damansara-Shah Alam Sdn Bhd (Prolintas), which is building the Damansara-Shah Alam elevated highway, said a stop-work order has been issued immediately after the incident.

It said the scaffolding fell at the construction site near Kota Damansara.

It added that no one using the NKVE was injured and Prolintas will cooperate with the authorities investigating the incident. – June 19, 2021.
