MORE than 200,000 doses of vaccine were administered under the national Covid-19 immunisation drive for the second day running yesterday, the Special Committee for Ensuring Access to Covid-19 Vaccine Supply said.

A total of 204,839 doses of vaccine were administered yesterday, where 196,775 people received their first jab while 8,064 received their second dose.

This brings the total number of doses administered as of 11.59pm yesterday to 5.10 million.

A total of 1.47 million people have completed their two-dose schedule while 3.63 million or 11.1% of the population have received one dose.

Kuala Lumpur saw the highest number of vaccinations with 757,884 doses administered.

On Tuesday, a total of 215,876 doses were dispensed. This was also the first time daily vaccinations exceeded 200,000.

Meanwhile, some 14.63 million people or 62.50% of the population have registered for vaccination so far.

Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin said on Tuesday that the national recovery plan will have four phases that will entail a gradual easing of movement restrictions.

Progression to the next recovery phase will depend on three indicators, namely the number of Covid-19 cases daily, the capacity of the healthcare system, including beds available in intensive care units and the percentage of the population that has been vaccinated against Covid-19. – June 17, 2021.
