Awam Desa Rejang residence in Kuala Lumpur subject to EMCO

THE Awam Desa Rejang residence in Kuala Lumpur will be subject to the enhanced movement control order (EMCO) from June 18 to July 1 after recording a significant increase in new Covid-19 cases.

Defence Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said in a statement that there have been 264 cases from 3,512 people tested.

“In a short period of time, more than 200 cases were detected and after a risk assessment, the government agreed to impose the EMCO for two weeks in Awam Desa Rejang residence,” said Ismail Sabri.

“The decision to place the area under EMCO is to contain the virus from spreading,” he added.

Malaysia today recorded 5,150 new Covid-19 cases during the past 24 hours, said Health Ministry director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah. – June 16, 2021.
