PAKATAN Harapan leaders are shocked over Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin’s Covid-19 national recovery plan, claiming it lacks a complete strategy and comprehensive approach to tackle the pandemic.
“We were surprised that it was merely a series of phases without a complete strategy and comprehensive approach to fight the pandemic.
“There was no assistance offered to the people or companies that are suffering or to revive the economy,” the PH leaders said in a statement today.
The statement was jointly signed by PKR president Anwar Ibrahim, DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng and Amanah president Mohamad Sabu.
Muhyiddin yesterday announced the national recovery plan with four phases that will entail a gradual easing of movement restrictions.
Progression to the next recovery phase will depend on three indicators – the number of Covid-19 cases daily, the capacity of the healthcare system, including beds available in intensive care units, the percentage of the population that has been vaccinated against Covid-19.
PH leaders branded the plan as a “defeat plan” as the data provided were not transparent.
They added that the data used by Muhyiddin can be easily manipulated and not open for scrutiny.
“We are of the view that the prime minister has presented a ‘plan’ without any real plan.
“This is a hasty announcement trying to divert the people’s attention from a state of volatile leadership, loss of direction, and has repeatedly failed to control this pandemic,” they added. – June 16, 2021.
