ICONIC singer Celine Dion will be launching her first-ever tour of Southeast Asia this year, but will be giving Kuala Lumpur a miss.

The world-renowned singer today announced the dates for her 2018 Asia-Pacific tour, which will kick off in Tokyo, Japan, and will see her performing Jakarta, Singapore, Manila and Bangkok for the first time in her career.

“I can’t wait to be there with you. I can’t wait to sing for you. I can’t wait to see you again. Be well, ciao,” Dion said in a video promoting the tour on her website.

The tour, which will take place from June to August, will also see Dion returning to Tokyo, Macao and Taipei to perform.

Dion, who is most known for the theme song from the movie Titanic, “My Heart Will Go On”, held a concert in Kuala Lumpur as part of her Taking Chances World Tour in 2008.

It is unclear why Kuala Lumpur was not included in her list of Southeast Asia stops this year, but it would not be the first time international artistes have chosen to avoid the Malaysian capital.

In March 2015, boyband One Direction held their “On The Road Again” tour in Jakarta, Singapore, Bangkok and Manila, but skipped the Malaysian capital.

The French-Canadian songstress is due to perform for two nights in Singapore, and for only one night at her other Southeast Asian destinations.

Throughout her 30-year musical career, Dion has won five Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year and Best Pop Album for Falling Into You (1996), and Record of the Year and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for My Heart Will Go On (1998).

She now performs daily in Las Vegas and has been hailed by critics as the “best performer in Las Vegas since Elvis Presley”. – January 12, 2018.

  • I was at her concert in 2008 - KL, and what happened was everyone HAD TO WAIT for our Agong who is 1 hour and 30mins late before Celine could begin her performance !!! Celine didnt even had enough time to change her clothes and had to rushed her concert through. The majority actually booed the Agong as he made his entry. DONT EVER appear in public performances and demand a selfish entrance if you are this is inconsiderate. Malaysia has been seen as a closed up country with all your hypocrite Islamic religious views and opinions and yet you further paint Malaysians in such a bad light. Seriously, please don’t appear in concerts. Performances is more fun and enjoyable without the presence of all these self entitled inconsiderate royalties.

  • Famous international artistes like Celine have many reasons to avoid Malaysia, here's some 1] Homegrown taliban PAS would force her cancellation, or force her to sing wearing purdah 2] Najib & Rosmah would abuse her for selfish photo-op
