5,793 new Covid-19 cases, Selangor still tops in daily infections

MALAYSIA reported 5,793 fresh Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours, said Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, raising the national caseload to 652,204.

The health director-general said Selangor reported the most number of cases at 1,582 infections as of noon today, followed by Negri Sembilan (618) and Sarawak (569). 

This would be the 51st consecutive day of Selangor in leading the state tally, with a cumulative figure of 212,985 cases. 

Kuala Lumpur also reported 559 cases, and along with Selangor, make the Klang Valley accountable for around 41% of today’s new Covid-19 cases.

There were 5,793 new infections reported today, but 8,334 recoveries again outstripped the fresh cases.

This put current active cases at 76,247.

Seventy-six deaths were also reported, with most of them – 26 – in Selangor.

A total of 4.2 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines have been administered as of June 11, according to the Special Committee on Covid-19 Vaccine Supply (JKJAV).

This total comprises 2.9 million first doses and 1.3 million second doses. – June 12, 2021.
