MALAYSIA saw yet another day of a record number of intensive care unit (ICU) admissions as 911 patients were currently under critical care as at noon today.
The previous high was yesterday with 905 ICU cases.
The uptrend began on May 5, when 354 ICU cases were reported. The number has seen a steady incline ever since.
Meanwhile, 462 patients are currently placed under respiratory support.
As for fatalities, the country saw 73 deaths from Covid-19. The new fatalities have raised the death toll to 3,684.
Recoveries continued to outnumber new cases for the fourth consecutive day, after 7,325 people recuperated from the coronavirus.
With this, cumulative recoveries now stand at 566,030.
The country saw 5,671 new Covid-19 cases today. The fresh cases have pushed the national caseload to 639,562.
There were six dead-on-arrival cases today.
The youngest person to succumb to the coronavirus today was a 13-year-old girl who died at the Sultanah Bahiyah hospital in Alor Setar, Kedah. She suffered from kidney disease and lupus.
Meanwhile, the oldest fatality on the list was a 104-year-old who died at the Lam Wah Ee Hospital in Penang. She had dyslipidemia.
Selangor saw the most deaths with 29 cases, followed by Johor with 11 cases.
Negri Sembilan reported eight cases, while Pahang reported three.
Kelantan reported seven deaths while Kedah and Kuala Lumpur reported seven each.
Kedah, Kuala Lumpur, Labuan and Penang reported four cases each while Kelantan reported two cases.
Malacca, Sabah, Terengganu, and Perak each reported one death. – June 10, 2021.
