FORMER Prasarana Malaysia Bhd chairman Tajuddin Abdul Rahman can expect to pay a RM1,500 compound for violating Covid-19 standard operating procedure (SOP) during a press conference last month, said the police today.

Dang Wangi police chief Mohamad Zainal Abdullah said the Attorney-General’s Chambers has agreed on the penalty for Pasir Salak MP for breaching Regulation 17 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures within the Infected Local Areas) Regulations 2021.

“The compound will be issued to him soon,” he said in a statement today.

Tajuddin appeared wearing a face shield without a mask at a meeting with the media following an LRT train crash on May 25.

He was questioned by the police on May 27 over the health transgression at the press call.

It was at the same event that Tajuddin had behaved in a bizarre manner, making jokes about the train disaster that had left hundreds of passengers injured, and then growing irate when peppered with questions about his late appearance at the crash site.

Following public derision and calls for his resignation, the Finance Ministry terminated the Prasarana chairman’s services with immediate effect. – June 9, 2021.
