DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng will meet with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah later today.

Party organising secretary Anthony Loke said the meeting is expected to take place this afternoon at the Istana Negara.

PKR president Anwar Ibrahim is also reported to have an appointment with the king today.

Earlier this morning Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin’s vehicle was seen leaving the Istana Negara, presumably after he has spoken with the Agong.

The car had arrived at the palace at 7.50am, Bernama reported.

The prime minister meets the Agong on Wednesdays before the weekly cabinet meeting.

Yesterday several sources told The Malaysian Insight the king was expected to see the political leaders in separate meetings over the next few days.

The sources said the king was meeting the leaders of registered political parties only. They did not disclose the meeting agenda.

Yesterday, Pejuang information chief Ulya Aqamah Husamudin said the party chairman, Dr Mahathir Mohamad, will also be called in for an audience with the King on Thursday.

Amanah-run news portal Malaysia Dateline had reported yesterday that the king will meet with party leaders starting today.

“The meetings are on how to rebuild the country after the Perikatan Nasional government has failed to manage the Covid-19 pandemic satisfactorily,” said Malaysia Dateline.

Quoting sources, report suggested the meetings were about nation rebuilding efforts.

The report was taken down shortly afterwards.

On April 20, Pakatan Harapan’s End the Emergency Committee submitted a memorandum to the palace urging the king to end the emergency. – June 9, 2021.
