TRANSPORT Minister Wee Ka Siong will present the report on the collision between two Light Rail Transit (LRT) trains on May 24 at the cabinet meeting tomorrow, he said on Facebook today.

According to Wee, he has already received the preliminary report prepared by a nine-member investigation committee, headed by Transport Ministry secretary-general Isham Ishak.

“I am satisfied with the report compiled by the committee.

“It was indeed professionally done, comprehensive in its details, and completed within the 14-day period given to them,” Wee said.

Last month, two LRT trains collided on the underground stretch of the line between the KLCC and Kg Baru stations, leaving 166 passengers with minor injuries and 47 others needing hospital treatment.

It was the worst such incident since operations began in 1998.

Wee said the human factor was just one facet of the investigation, which would also take into consideration an entire range of technical and operational components.

Wee said that he looks forward to presenting the findings to the cabinet, with several recommendations.

This, he said, was to bridge the gaps in the safety and standard operating procedures for LRT trains.

“I’m still studying the documents and findings given by the committee.

“More than improving RapidRail’s services, these findings, and recommendations will go a long way to improving Malaysia’s entire rail service infrastructure in the long term.” – June 8, 2021.

  • If the findings only finds the driver of the ill fated train was the sole person responsible for the incident than the findings is what I term as a "sunshine report"
