MEDIA practitioners will begin to receive their Covid-19 vaccinations starting Wednesday, said Khairy Jamaluddin.

Khairy, who is science, technology, and innovation minister as well the coordinating minister for the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme, said several media personnel have received their appointments today and will be inoculated on Wednesday.

“Some have received their appointments today and will be getting their shots this Wednesday,” he told reporters after visiting the vaccination centre at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre today.

Khairy said his ministry was trying to increase the number of media personnel to be vaccinated.

It was reported that a total of 5,687 media practitioners from 114 registered media agencies will receive their Covid-19 jabs.

Earlier today, Pejuang chief information officer Ulya Aqamah had slammed Khairy and Saifuddin Abdullah, the multimedia and communications minister, for delaying the vaccination process for media personnel as they are considered front-liners.

He said the media are at the forefront and Putrajaya has to help them simplify their tasks as information channels to the public.

The country recorded a slight dip in Covid-19 cases in the past two days. – June 7, 2021.
