THE written examination for Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) this year has been postponed to March 2022, said Mohd Radzi Md Jidin, as the Covid-19 pandemic forces the ministry to delay the examinations.

The education minister said the oral and practical science test will start in February 2022.

Radzi said the decision was made after considering the current situation and challenges that need to be faced throughout the year.

“The experience of SPM 2020 paves the way for SPM 2021 to be delayed to 2022,” he said this morning during a press conference.

The decision comes after uncertainty how long the current battle against the Covid-19 pandemic will last and when the situation will be deemed safe for schooling to resume.

Malaysia is currently in total lockdown until June 14 and schools are closed.

The examinations are traditionally held in November and December. – June 6, 2021.
