EMCO for UTM Skudai from Friday

THE enhanced movement-control order (EMCO) will be implemented at the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) campus in Skudai, Johor for two weeks beginning Friday, said Senior Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

“The EMCO will start on May 21 and end on June 3,” he said in a statement today.

He added that the Ministry of Health (MOH) had performed 346 Covid-19 screening tests at the public university, of which 49 positive cases had been detected.

MOH also reported a high positivity rate of 14.2% as well as the distribution of positive cases and close contact had spread to several other colleges.

Meanwhile, 513 individuals were arrested yesterday for breach of standard operating procedure (SOP), of which 484 were issued compounds and 29 were remanded. – May 19, 2021.
