THE vaccination process at Kuala Lumpur World Trade Centre (WTCKL) went smoothly after improvements were made to the queuing system, said Dr Lim Shiau Chong

The QueueMed chief executive officer said today that they had set up additional entry points into WTCKL after having only one yesterday.

Those getting their vaccines today were also happy with the arrangements.

Nur Laila, 25, who came from Klang to get her vaccine said the whole thing took less than an hour.

“Honestly before coming, I thought the process might take long but I am glad that it went by quickly and very smoothly

“My appointment was at 11am, I showed up around 10.45am and by 11.30am I was done with the whole process,” she said

Expatriate teacher Kate Bennet, 28, said she had heard about the problems at the WTCKL yesterday but was confident the authorities will get solve it.

Bennet said it took about 30 minutes to get vaccinated.

Yesterday, WTCKL’s capacity as an AstraZeneca vaccination centre (PPV) was increased to 8,100 doses resulting in long queues and delays before people could be vaccinated.

In a statement, Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF) said it was due to the public showing up early for vaccines and many unregistered people walking into the WTCKL in the hope of getting a shot.

It urged the public to come only 15 to 30 minutes before their appointment, to follow instructions by officers at the centre, observe social distancing, wear a mask and to leave as soon as the vaccination process was completed

National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme Coordinating Minister Khairy Jamaluddin also told vaccine recipients with the status of person under investigation, person under surveillance or close contacts of Covid-19 patients to not show up at vaccination centres.

On May 2, the government opened opt-in booking for the AstraZeneca vaccines for eligible individuals aged 18 and above, and the vaccination exercise began on May 5. – May 16, 2021.
