20 new Covid-19 clusters with 12 linked to workplaces

MORE than half of the 20 new Covid-19 clusters reported by the Health Ministry today are linked to workplaces.

Director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said there are 12 clusters linked to workplaces recorded today.

Selangor reported the highest number of workplace clusters, at five. They are Persiaran Tanjung construction site in Sepang (53 cases), Persimpangan Batu Arang in Gombak and Hulu Selangor (163 cases), Bukit Semenyih 2 in Hulu Langat and Kuala Langat (105 cases), Industri Jalan Emas in Kuala Langat and Klang (31 cases) and Persiaran Masjid Lima in Petaling, Klang, Kuala Langat and Kuala Selangor (28 cases).

Other states that reported workplace clusters are Kuala Lumpur with three clusters, Johor with two and Penang and Kelantan with one each.

Apart from workplace clusters, there are also five community clusters on the list.

Sarawak reported two community clusters while Kelantan, Johor and Sabah registered one each.

Rounding off the list for today are the Jalan Muafakat cluster in Johor, which are linked to religious activities (39 cases); the Kebagu education cluster in Sabah (15 cases); and the Lorong Taman Ipoh Dua cluster in Perak, which involved a high-risk group (21 cases).

Noor Hisham also announced that there are currently 462 active clusters in the country. – May 12, 2021.
