PUTRAJAYA has lifted the enhanced movement-control order (EMCO) in six localities after all areas recorded significant improvements in Covid-19 infections, Senior Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said.
The six localities are Maahad Tahfiz Al-Azhari in Machang, Kelantan; Kg Bangkahulu, Gemas, Negri Sembilan; PPR Batu 2 Lrg Habib Abdul Rahman and PPR Bt 8 Jalan Apas, Tawau, Sabah; Kompleks Abedon (Bumiwealth, Kolopis and Tanaki), Kinabatangan, Sabah and SMK Ulu Balingian, Sibu, Sarawak.
“In Maahd Tahfiz Al-Azhari, 137 cases were detected. The last case reported was on May 4 and cases have dropped.
“In Gemas, 61 cases were found and the last case was also detected on May 4,” he said.
The EMCO at the religious school and the Gemas village ends today.
Ismail also said the EMCO at PPR Batu 2 Lrg Habib Abdul Rahman and PPR Bt 8 Jalan Apas, Tawau, Sabah will end tomorrow.
“We found 26 cases in PPR Batu 2 Lrg Habib Abdul Rahman and 30 cases in PPR Batu 8 Jalan Apas.
“There are no more samples to be tested and infectivity rate is under control,” he said.
Kompleks Abedon (Bumiwealth, Kolopis and Tanaki), Kinabatangan in Sabah and SMK Ulu Balingian, Sibu in Sarawak also recorded a drop in number of new cases.
Ismail said Putrajaya agreed to end the EMCO as scheduled at the two localities following advice from the Health Ministry.
“Thirty-seven new cases were found in Kompleks Adebon and 239 cases in SMK Ulu Balingian.
“The Covid-19 situation is under control in both places,” he said.
