THE forensic audit into the Kuala Lumpur Vertical City (KLVC) project developed by Synergy Promenade Sdn Bhd on land owned by Felda in Jalan Semarak in Kuala Lumpur starts today and is expected to wrap up ahead of the 30-day deadline
Felda chairman Shahrir Abdul Samad said all the necessary documents had been handed over to the external audit firm appointed by the Prime Minister’s Department.
“The prime minister (Najib Razak) gave 30 days. (But) The process can be expedited because all the documents are available.
“On the first day, they (the appointed audit firm) will study the documents presented to them and if necessary, they will come here (to Felda headquarters) to acquire other documents,” he said at Menara Felda today.
He was asked to comment on first-day developments of the audit into the activities, actions and decisions related to the KLVC project, particularly on the transfer of land ownership from Felda to the developer. The auditors will also talk to Kuala Lumpur Land and Mines Department and City Hall.
Last Thursday, Najib announced that an external audit firm had been appointed to undertake a forensic audit following allegations that Felda was at risk of losing ownership of land worth RM270 million through a controversial transaction in 2015.
The audit firm will submit the full report to the Prime Minister’s Department. – Bernama, January 8, 2018.
