3 Kelantan villages under EMCO from Sunday

THREE villages in Bunut Susu in Pasir Mas, Kelantan, will be placed under the enhanced movement control order (EMCO) for two weeks from May 9 after recording a significant increase in Covid-19 cases, said Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

The defence minister said the villages are Kampung Paya Ular, Kampung Talang and Kampung Bechah Palas.

He said the decision was made on the recommendation of the Ministry of Health to facilitate early detection and prevent the spreading of the virus to nearby villages.

“At the moment, 120 positive cases have been detected in the three villages – 42 in Kampung Paya Ular, 26 in Kampung Talang and 52 in Kampung Bechah Palas,” he said in a statement.

“The EMCO will be effective from May 9 to 22.”

Ismail Sabri also said the EMCO in Maahad Tahfiz Sains Tanah Merah, Kelantan, was lifted today as the cluster is under control.

It was initially scheduled to end on May 16.

The EMCO in two other areas – Sekolah Menengah Sains Banting in Kuala Langat, Selangor, and Kampung Muhibbah Raya in Tawau, Sabah – also ended today. – May 7, 2021.
