FORMER prime minister Najib Razak was fined RM3,000 for failing to register his presence at Restoran Nasi Ayam Hainan Chee Meng in Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur, last month.

Najib responded today by saying that he will settle it, but also took a pot-shot at Perikatan Nasional ministers.

“Common people, including me, are probed and fined but what happened to ministers who broke the rules?” he said on Facebook, attaching a picture of Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin without a face mask in public.

In a statement, Dang Wangi police chief Mohamad Zainal Abdullah said the fine was issued based on the decision by the Attorney General’s Chambers.

“Meanwhile, the shop owner was fined RM10,000 for failing to ensure Najib complied with the standard operating procedure (SOP),” said Zainal.

“The public must abide by the SOPs set by the government at all times to fight Covid-19.”

Najib had admitted his mistake on Facebook after the incident went viral on social media. – May 6, 2021.
