14 new Covid-19 clusters reported in the past 24 hours

WORKPLACE clusters once again formed the bulk of new Covid-19 groupings reported in the past 24 hours, said director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

According to Noor Hisham, there were eight workplace clusters on today’s list, with Selangor and Perak reporting two each:

  • Jalan Batu Arang in Gombak, Selangor, 15 cases
  • Industri Platinum in Kuala Selangor, Selangor, 10 cases
  • Persiaran Meru Raya in Kinta and Manjung, Perak, 14 cases
  • Persiaran Greentown Tujuh in Larut, Matang and Selama, Perak, 11 cases
  • Jalan Temangan in Machang, Kelantan, nine cases
  • Jalan Pertama Empat in Johor Baru, Johor, eight cases
  • Industri Lengkuk Teknologi in Seremban and Port Dickson, 64 cases
  • Jalan Tunku, in Kota Kinabalu, Papar, Putatan and Penampang, Sabah, 10 cases.

Noor Hisham said these clusters were detected at factories, a lodging premises, service companies and a supermarket.

Meanwhile, there were two community transmission clusters and a further two in the education sector.

The Kg Chat cluster in Pasir Mas, Kelantan, reported 17 cases while Indera Mahkota Lima in Kuantan, Pahang, reported 18 infections.

Both of these clusters, which stemmed from community transmission, were traced to symptomatic index cases.

Meanwhile, Sungai Merab in Hulu Langat and Sepang (10 cases) and Jalan Teknologi Kota Damansara (58 cases) in Petaling made up the list of education clusters.

Jalan Korma, was the only cluster on the list involving high risk individuals. The cluster of 25 cases involved staff of a healthcare facility in Batu Pahat, Johor.

The last cluster reported in the past 24 hours was Dah Lubuk Emas in Bandar Baharu, Kedah, linked to religious activities. This cluster reported 12 cases.

Noor Hisham also said seven clusters were inactive, so there were 418 active clusters nationwide. – May 6, 2021.
