NO action has been taken against the teacher who allegedly made rape jokes in school, said the student in the middle of the controversy, adding that he is still teaching in the Kuala Selangor school.

Ain Husniza Saiful Nizam, the 17-year-old student who lodged a police report against the teacher, said she is now being singled out by adults for making a mountain out of a molehill.

Ain had made a TikTok video sharing the incident that happened during a physical education and health class when students were discussing about sexual harassment. The content went viral and sparked widespread outrage on social media.

Appearing in a Facebook livestream talk show with Opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim today, she said people have also accused her of politicising the issue.

“This is not about politics, this is about us all together, adults uniting to help us children when school doesn’t feel safe for us,” she said.

“This is a school that I loved and where there were teachers who taught and cared for me.

“But when this issue happened, I wondered where are all these teachers now?”

Her father, Saiful Nizam Abdul Wahab, who was by her side during the talk show said the male teacher is still teaching in the same school.

“I think he should not be there. There should be an investigation,” he said.

Anwar urged the authorities and the Education Ministry to investigate this incident.

“The due process has to happen, call Ain, call Ain’s teachers, call the witnesses, don’t treat this lightly because this has a psychological impact.

“When there is a report made, there must be an immediate investigation, not restrain or intimidate (the victim),” said Anwar who is also Port Dickson MP.

He said only when proper action is taken and a stern warning given, then there will be a form of assurance that such wrongdoing will not occur again.

Anwar also urged the male students in the school to stand up for Ain and be a “hero” to her instead of harassing her on Twitter.

Ain had also started a campaign, #MakeSchoolASaferPlace, inviting others to join the cause that she is fighting for.

She has received good support from members of the public and celebrities coming on board to share their personal stories of sexual harassment. – May 6, 2021.
