Ismail Sabri announces EMCO for 23 Pahang districts, 1 Johor school

SIXTEEN areas in Sungai Ruan and seven localities in Sempalit in Raub, Pahang, will be subject to the enhanced movement control order (EMCO) for two weeks after recording significant increase in positive Covid-19 cases.

Defence Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the decision was made after a risk assessment conducted by the Health Ministry.

“Over the past two weeks, 65 positive cases have been recorded,” said Ismail.

“The government has now decided to make all 23 localities subject to the EMCO from May 8 to May 21.”

The 16 affected areas in Sg Ruan are Taman Dahlia, Taman KSM Sg Ruan, Taman Bunga Raya, Taman Sg Ruan, Taman Cempaka, Taman Bunga Matahari, Taman Koperasi Mewah, Taman Melewar, Taman Mawar, Taman Mawar Impian, Taman Bunga Tanjung, Taman Bunga Angsana, Taman Melor, Taman Orkid, Rumah Murah Sg Ruan and Kg Baru Sg Ruan.

Meanwhile, in Sempalit, Kg Baru Sempalit, Taman Sempalit Indah, Taman Sempalit Baru, Taman Sempalit Aman, Taman Sempalit Jaya, Taman Emas and Taman Emas Baru are locked down from Saturday.

Sekolah Sukan Tunku Mahkota Ismail in Bandar Penawar, Kota Tinggi, Johor, is also subject to the EMCO.

Ismail Sabri said the Health Ministry screened 212 people and 96 tested positive.

“There has been an increase in the number of new cases in the past week and the infectivity rate is high,” he said, adding the EMCO will also start on May 8, for two weeks.

Ismail also announced the end of EMCO for Taman Seri Desa, Kuala Krau, in Temerloh, Pahang, tomorrow.

“From 461 tests, only 12 were found positive and the last reported case was on April 30. We are lifting the EMCO in Taman Seri Desa, Kuala Krau, from tomorrow,” he said. – May 6, 2021.
