Selangor leads daily Covid-19 tally with 1,137 cases

SELANGOR continued to lead the daily Covid-19 cases tally, accounting for close to one-third of the nationwide total of 3,551 new infections today.

Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the fresh cases have taken the country’s caseload to 427,927.

Selangor topped the tally with 1,137 cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur (477) and Sarawak (391). 

He said the number of patients under critical care was at an all-time high with 354 people warded at intensive care units, with 199 needing respiratory support.

Noor Hisham said active cases continued on an uptrend, climbing to 33,762 from yesterday’s 32,939.

He said 16 of today’s cases were imported while the rest were from local transmission.

On recoveries, Noor Hisham said 2,709 people had recovered from Covid-19, taking the cumulative total of recoveries to 392,555.

The country also reported 19 fatalities which raised the death toll to 1,610. – May 6, 2021.
