POLICE have summoned Fahmi Reza for two new cases and he will be questioned at two separate police stations next Thursday.

Using the #KerajaanGagal hashtag, which trended two weeks ago, the political graphic artist said he was informed by police today that he will have to give his statements to the Kajang and Sepang district police stations.

“I will be investigated under the Section 504 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act (CMA) for two postings. I will continue to fight regardless of the challenges. #SatireIsNotCrime,” said Fahmi.

Section 504 of the Penal Code states that whoever intentionally insults and provokes another person, knowing such provocation could break the peace shall be punished with imprisonment of up to two years while Section 233 of the CMA pertains to the improper use of network facilities.

The posts, said Fahmi, were about an image bearing the words “Universiti Katak Malaysia” and a caricature resembling Health Minister Dr Adham Baba.

“I am ready to face any new investigations and allegations and I will defend my graphic works.

“I will not delete my postings but will give my statements to the police,” said Fahmi.

Last week, 20 police personnel arrested Fahmi for publishing a design related to the Queen with the caption “Dengki ke?” (Are you envious?”).

It is believed the caption was referring to an Instagram conversation between the Queen and a follower, who asked if her chefs had also received unapproved Covid-19 vaccines.

The Queen replied: “Dengki ke”.

This was in relation to a report in Asia Sentinel that alleged that the Yang di-Pertuan Agong had acquired unapproved Sinopharm vaccines to be used for his family members and close friends.

The report was denied by Health Minister Dr Adham Baba, who described the allegation as baseless, adding that the purchases of vaccines for the country went through stringent assessment by the National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency.

Not long after the post went viral, social media users began using the #dengkike hashtag before it began to trend on social media.

The Queen later deactivated her Instagram account, but reactivated it with a motivational quote. – April 30, 2021.
